Pizza is a wonderful delicacy that Italian restaurants in Casablanca and elsewhere have improved far beyond its modest beginnings. I mean, does it get any better than indulging in a nice and filling pizza on a Sunday night to prepare for a new week, whether this pizza is delivered in a cardboard box or served in a fancy restaurant?
As pizzas are so popular and more and more pizza places open up for business every day, it can be challenging to decide which ones are really worth the trip.
To avoid you wasting time searching for the perfect pizza, we have come up with a list of our top 5 pizza places in Casablanca. We are huge pizza fans so best believe we put our heart and soul in trying and rating these places!
Please remember that this is just our opinion though and we would be happy to have your feedback and maybe make us discover new places! Let us know in the comments section below.
Da Nolita
Da Nolita is a very beautiful and instagrammable restaurant in the Gauthier area. The place is decorated with taste and there is a modern Italian feel to it. It is the perfect place for a nice evening with friends as well as the perfect set up for a date with your other half.
Everything there comes straight from Italy: the products, the pizza oven and even the chef! That’s how you know it’s the real deal!
Not only can you order the pizzas (which are delicious and my personal favourite in Casablanca), but they also propose other Italian dishes and antipastis such as burrata, pasta and meat (made the Italian way, of course). The price for a pizza is on the higher end for a city like Casablanca (around MAD 150-200), but it is worth every penny. If you eat pork, we would highly recommend the Focaccia Pizza for MAD 190. You will be served with a huge (no, really, it is huge!) plate burrata on top of mount of tomato, prosciutto, parmesan and hidden under it focaccia slice. You will leave the restaurant rolling over your full belly, trust me!
If you have enough space for dessert, we recommend their homemade tiramisu: authentic and delicious!
Da Nolita is a very popular place so we recommend to book in advance to secure a spot, especially on the weekends.
Le Petit Italien
Le Petit Italien is a small restaurant located in Gauthier and is definitey the best value for money pizzas in Casablanca. Everything there feels and taste authenthic: they use quality products and the pizza crust is to die for. They propose the classic pizzas but we fell head over heals for their burrata pizza, made of a huge portion of burrata cheese on top of a tasty tomato sauce and of course lots of parmesan to top it off. For less than MAD 100, it is a great deal !
They also sell other type of dishes like the panozzo sandwich (which is a sandwich made of pizza crust). It is good but, in our opinion, it is nowhere near as good as their pizzas.
They also have a very efficient and quick delivery service, so you can give it a try from the comfort of your home on a lazy Sunday night!
Trattoria del Papa
La Trattoria del Papa is a very nice traditional pizza restaurant located in Gauthier, with the typical brick walls and red and white tablecloths. It proposes traditional Italian dishes, including pizzas of course, under the direction of its chef Anthony Bossel. The prices of the pizzas are quite reasonable, between MAD 90 and MAD 190. Our personal favourites are the truffle pizza for MAD 190 and the gorgonzola pizza for the real cheese lovers for MAD 175.
Primo Passo
Primo Passo is an Italian restaurant which has two establishments in Casablanca: one in the California district and one in Maarif.
The decoration is nice and simple, with walls of handmade plates and flower pots, which gives it a very cosy and family-friendly vibe.
Their menu is quite diverse, with an affordable price range from MAD 70 to MAD 180. We would definitely recommend their calzone pizza for 85 MAD which is always a hit!
Buona forchetta
Buona forchetta is a small trattoria located in the Gauthier area with an Italian owner who definitely knows his business. This restaurant is a true hidden gem (it has neither a Facebook nor an Instagram profile) known from only the real pizza lovers of Casablanca. As soon as you step through the door, you get an instant feel of authenticity, as if you were having lunch or dinner in the heart of Sicily. What we love about this restaurant is that you really get to taste dishes that are not very well-known for non-Italians but are very popular in Italy. Because after all, food is also a great way to discover other cultures! In terms of pizzas, we would recommend the classic Regina which is made with love and a zest of Italian je-ne-sais-quoi. Enjoy!
